Anybody else ever have a FedEx Ground package get lost?

Postby nachtjaeger » Thu May 19, 2016 6:37 pm

Ordered some stuff a week ago. It was picked up by FedEx Ground in Toronto (Scarborough) Ontario, went to Mississauga, cleared customs in jig time, went to Buffalo, then to Syracuse, left Syracuse at 8:00 AM last Saturday morning, and - no update since. :x
Seriously, folks- this is the Information Age. When a package's status is "in transit" and there is no update for more than 24 hours, shouldn't that set some kind of flag in their system? Every facility supervisor (or whatever the title) should have a report on missing/overdue packages on their email at the start of every shift, with the oldest ones at the top of the list.
This really pisses me off. FedEx had ONE job- and they completely blew it. It wasn't anything to tempt a thief- just a couple roll ends of latex sheeting. Plus it's not the sort of thing that would be hard to spot in their "Lost & Found" (if they even have such a thing.)
I really hate humans. They always let you down somehow. :(

What does FedEx say?
Since unless the fucking truck drove into a ravine and exploded in flames, a lot of humming and hawing is just bullshit. Beat them over the skull with an axe until you get satisfaction. Doesn't matter it's not irreplaceable. It's the principle of the thing

Once I had a package in transit and due for delivery. Suddenly the tracking info said it was delivered. It was NOT at my door. I called the FedEx office immediately. When the driver was informed he immediately went to my neighbor's house where he dropped off the package, retrieved it, and brought it to me. I have had excellent service from both FedEx and UPS, although a few minor glitches have happened.

Local FedEx drivers are private contractors. Only the long-haul guys are FedEx employees (or so I've been told).

From the sound of it, it's still on it's way.

FedEx Ground is 7 BUISNESS days. Weekends don't count. I really doubt they lost it it's just on the slow boat. Happened to me a few times too. If you're really worried call the 1800 number with your tracking number, they're customer service is actually pretty decent.

After I called about it, they bothered to look for it. It turned up in OREGON. Why did it only appear when I called about it? And no, they refused to express it to the local FedEx hub so I could pick it up there- "FedEx Express and FedEx Ground are separate companies." . I'll just have to wait until it gets delivered- too late to be of any use.
Next time I order something, I'm sending the shipper an empty box via UPS with a return label.

Not quite relevant here, but this is what one guy from Russia recently complained about in the Internet. He purchased something in an Internet shop. He was informed that his purchase was sent to him via Russian Mail service. Then, after some time, he got a message saying, "Unfortunately, your order from ... was lost due to a robbery of Russian Mail van." No compensation was offered. Bummer.

You think FedEx is bad? If you live in UK you have to put up with Yodel; if they don't get a reply to their knock, they will THROW the parcel over the roof of the house in an attempt to get it into the back yard!

Having had a great deal of experience with all of them I generally regard FEDEX Air overnight as the gold standard and everything else declines from there. All shippers have good moments and bad but at least most of them will locate something once it's found to be missing. The worst is the U.S. Post Office which once it misplaces something you are absolutely out of luck. Even their tracking is questionable but I guess it doesn't really matter since they aren't going to look for it.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.
