Space X Doing it Again

Postby kham » Wed Jul 20, 2016 5:17 am

It's a mark of how jaded -and sad - our culture is , that one of the twitter memes was #boring. Whoever did that, you suck. And should report for conversion to Soylent Yellow  for you serve no purpose to mankind

At any rate, they successfully launched another, and landed the booster safely. The Dragon Cargo Ship is presently formated with the station at 30m and will be capture within the hour. NASA tv has it on. My only complaint with them, is they really should stop treating the viewers as imbecilic morons. Yeah, I know a great number are.... but if you watching the feed, you likely know a bit about the subject. And really? Telling me the station is orbiting the planet earth? Gee. I didn't think it was orbiting fucking Venus.... :P

LMAO I doubt he/she has any nutritional value.

:o I thought it was orbiting Vulcan..! :P

But yeah, I think NASA tv sort of assumes that it's mostly school kids watching and presents on that level. They need to hire a regular, dedicated and enthusiastic public relations type, too. I nominate my brother-in-law. He's taught me more about this stuff than NASA tv has. :D
How long did Tarzan watch before deciding to save Jill..?

Interweb trolls breed like Aussie Rabbits. Hopefully they all download Pokemon Go and walk into a volcano, off a cliff, or into a Meat Processing plant to be made into cheap hotdogs

Since Elon Musk says this is likely the booster they will use for a reflight in a couple of months it will be interesting to get the reaction then. Most people don't get it at all. Based on the people ahead of me in line at a state office this morning I'd say many couldn't be made to understand it at all.

...but the rest of us will escape to the stars. - Elon Musk
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

I think they forget that a large percentage of the watchers know the terminology , and CAN do some of the math in our heads. And we don't need to be told - repeatedly... that 10m is 30 feet. Which it isn't , its 33 and a bit.... And that a delta-v on the Dragon of 0.001 m/s (or 1mm/s) on it's Z-Axis is not stationary, so we arent surprised when the vehicle is now 10.65 m instead of staying at 10m

Give it a chance. It's called learning :P

This shot, just as the Arm captured, just after orbital sunrise.

Or step on a landmine. In Bosnia, people are walking through minefields to catch the creatures:
