Took about 3 months. The smaller 1:350 YAMATO took somewhat longer years ago because it was smaller-ergo more delicate. I built the 52" Nichimo YAMATO when I was very young and look forward to completing that monster when I can spare $500 to buy something not needed.

You missed a few details. The fighter bay, the dorsal and ventral stabilizers, and (most glaring omission) the Wave Motion Cannon.

All too true, but this was before it was sunk - aka 1944 so it is not yet ready for Space Battleship Yamato. Ain't sunk yet so they have not found it yet.

The grim delight of the actual condition of both wrecks , precluding any salvage outside of insane fantasy cannot be stated more. And enjoyed

Otoko-Tachi no Yamato Final Battle (FULL)

I have never been able to find the full movie in english, managed to get a copy in Japanese but in Brit format so , worthless sadly

A lot seems pulled from Russel Spurr's A Glorious Way to Die which is one of the better Yamato books. He was in the Indian navy, and as part of the occupation was assigned to Kure. Where he saw this massive drydock, full of midget subs. He asked the obvious question, and was told, for Yamato, of course. Which led to the book, decades later.

Agree on the non-English print, never found one either. Have Spurr's book, which is excellent and was always amused at the mighty BATTLESHIP series by Robert S. Dulin and others, very authoratative and well written with one huge glaring error. On the main bridge-funnel-mast structure, the upper set of 5" guns did NOT have blast shields, only the lower set of 3 did. Now, models have gotten this wrong on occasion (particularly the awful Doyusha 1:250 ship which is a bath-tub toy) but ever since it has been so with the shield's missing from the upper set as was. Still, the line drawing in this book HAS those blast shields present - WHY? Look at every close pic and they are not there. Glaring mistake.
