This after Kaylee *actually displayed proper handling procedures before putting in a magazine. No no. The CBS retards kinda forget basic handgun 101 for semi-automatic pistols, by that teeny thing, you have to have a fucking round in the chamber before they go bang Loading a Mag, but not cycling the slide, means- ---- come on now, girls, I know you can do it!.......yes boys and girls, it means, that there is nothing in the frabbing chamber! So pull the trigger all you like. Movies are terrible about little things, that a 12-year old could advise them on. And NEVER, EVER, should be given slack on it. If you have millions of dollars in a budget , try spending a few fucking bucks on trying not to look like total assholes. And treating your viewers with contempt . For I can tell you, you aint getting the breaks you used to....

My favorite gun gaffe in the movies is when someone is aiming a shotgun or pistol on someone else in a threatening manner, then racks the slide or pump for emphasis...and no round comes flying out. So they were holding a gun on someone without a round chambered. Frickin' brilliant.

Could be an m1895 Nagant! I think there have been a few revolvers made that seal the cylinder gap when firing, but that's the only one I could bring to mind just this moment.

Although, there is also a great scene in Goodfellas when Jimmy refuses to take a bag full of revolvers from Henry because he can't fit them with silencers.

I can't recall where I read it, but... there was a newly manufactured revolver that was Special Operations oriented that was threaded to accept a suppressor. The big thing about the design was that after the chambers rotation to align the round to the barrel, the cylinder moved forward that last little bit to create the final gas seal. End results were minimal compared to an auto pistol or carbine, but... Now you don't have to pick up your brass. If you are eliminating a sentry no one cares if it's a 9mm, .45 cal or 9mm Mak. Why? It was their enemy that did it. I seriously doubt that the NVA or Viet Cong were going to treat their dead troop and the area as a crime scene when a SEAL team did a prisoner snatch when we used a Browning .22. (Yea... they had a chamber lock to manually extract the spent round.)

But yea... the silenced revolver was a farce back in the 70s, but is a bit more plausible nowadays.

My father-in-law told the story of one of his hunting buddies getting "Buck Fever." They put on a drive, and his friend was on watch. The friend told the gang about how he'd seen a huge buck, emptied his shotgun at, it but missed every round. Oddly, nobody heard any shots. . . Yep, he never hit the trigger- just pumped the slide until the magazine was empty. They went back to where he'd been standing and picked up the unfired rounds.

I will never forget the sick (most likely rabid) raccoon I had to shoot. It was hanging around the dog yard in broad daylight (and I had a coonhound at the time.) I tried to chase it off at gunpoint, but it just stood there looking sad and sick. Raccoons are damn smart- they know what guns are. I chambered a round in the 12 gauge- KA-CHUCK- and that raccoon stood up with its belly toward me, held on to a sapling, turned its head and closed its eyes.
You can bet I used the longest shovel I owned to put him in the ground- and then sanitized the shovel in a hot fire.

The opposite end of the scale would be, the shows and films that get it right
Probably one of the better ones would have to be Band of Brothers, that not only got the loading and reloading stuff dead to rights, but the sounds and use of most weapons, including quirks and malfunctions. The bit in Holland after just jumping in, one of the new kids is all pumped up, walking in line and fitting his bayonet to his M1 , right as Bull tells him in that voice "you won't be able to shoot straight, with that thing on it...." promptly followed by him removing it.... And that's not bad enough, poor bastard finally gets chance to shoot while they withdrawing, and something goes sideways, jamming it, right up until it's hours later back at camp before even has chance to fix it. "Never fired a shot..." he laments. * The irony in this ep, is Bull, after getting trapped in town hiding in culvert, after crawling on hands and knees avoiding getting run over by a burning Sherman , which had been homogenized by a Jagdpanther.... is reduced to having to fight hand-to-hand using his own bayonet to avoid making noise with a horde of germans outside
