What's your take on it, Kham? The one documentary I saw said that she was down by the bow already, and when that monster wave hit her bow drove deep enough to hit bottom and break her back.

That's the problem; without a detailed survey of the debris field and analysis of the structural damage, there's no definitive answer. Sure, the following seas and the 3 waves that passed the Anderson and went on correspond nicely in a timeline, but there's no PROOF.
And while it might have dived and smashed into the lake bottom, no one has actually modeled that. Plus , the colossal stink in the room, is the ore pellets sprinkled across the forward end and bottom area. That implies part of it was floating for a bit, spilling out cargo. Smashing face-first into the bottom and breaking in half would result in a more concentrated mass of ore pellets. That's not the case. Breaking half on the surface on the other hand, no one will address. Since that means, that ultimately the design is structurally unsound in some conditions. And that brings in shipbuilding . And the owners. And don't forget the AB of shipping, who modified the Load Lines. You are talking about a whole ton of money. And a vested interest to NOT do a detailed investigation. And LIE through their teeth. And I aint leaving out the USCG, who ultimately sign off on the safety of ship.

I lived on the eastern shore of Lake Superior when this happened, and it was huge news in the region. I remember it all clearly even though I was a grade schooler at the time. That's all everyone talked about. It was the first disaster I can relate directly to, and the Gordon Lightfoot song cemented that.
