First Big Storm of Winter

Snowsquall warning, gale warning out on the big lake, looking at up to 30 cm + snow in the next couple days. Pictures and maybe video when available, but might be hiding until things more civilized. Windchill presently is -24C. Now, that's cold
This is the time of year, when having your Gas Bill having a credit set in advance, in anticipation of this sort of iceage shit, makes sense

Good time of year NOT to live downwind of a large body of water.

We're out of Lake Effect range here. I've had to plow 5" or so of wet, heavy stuff off the driveway twice so far- good to have a tractor, as the walk-behind snowblower packed up (and wouldn't handle that wet stuff anyway.)

We had clouds and the temp may drop below freezing tomorrow.

Windchill is still -24. Sun early, classic squall look. Turned dark looking in minutes. They calling for 20-30 cm, and the highway N is closed south of Wawa now, and East not looking too great either. Time to stay inside and use available stores

Oh, I remember the days of heading home for Christmas, one eye on the sky to try and avoid being trapped on Hwy 17 N... That damned road would be closed half the winter anytime the wind blew eastwards off Superior.

Squalls ongoing, another 15-25cm forecast, -12 air, -20 windchill. Havent looked outside yet, and no rush. It'll still be there. And snowblower guys, well they come when done. And not planning on going anywhere , except maybe a nap later

I wish PennDOT would learn to plow like you guys do, and leave a layer of snow on the road for traction. Down here they insist on scraping the road bare and then you really have to watch for black ice.

That's better than what they do everywhere I have lived in the south (NC, AL,LA, and AR. In the first three there answer to a snow or ice storm was, "Plow?" Here in AR they do seem to know what a plow or salt truck is but they seem to wait until cars and trucks leave the road by spinning before they start.
