Curtis LeMay, or Tommy Power for that matter, would have had these useless bits of protoplasm busted to Airman, then reassigned to somewhere north of Thule. Or Alert. And if they all died in a crash en route, that's unfortunate.... the crew got out, eh?

This the Kindle , and at Amazon.ca but you get the gist. Worth the read. Interesting stuff, and shows how dangerous a job working on these things was. And, for trivia bonus, how close the site(s) were to a present day sinking studio :)
