You would think, in the here and now of the 21st century, you could do just about anything risky with CG. Why bother with knucklehead stuff like this??

My question is, why did it take so long for the footage to surface? Maybe charges could have been lain if this appeared a lot swifter than now.

Update: Apparently this was an edited video leaked by PETA......which automatically classifies it as bullshit in my book. My bad folks.

If the dog was thrown in, wheres the video of that? Surely a whistleblower would not miss the crucial moment they claim was so bad.

Because it was PETA who leaked the footage (i perfectly know they are a bunch of anarchist treehuggers and such)?

The incident is there and its still inacceptable. Cancelling the release is the right consequence and that is NOT PETAs fault.

The footage was edited for maximum shock value, no doubt. Otherwise they would have shown the imminent assistance rendered to the dog.

Having said that though, the crew handling the dog, and especially the guy holding the dog, were idiots. The guy handling the dog should have been in the water, IMO. Dogs are certainly smart enough to know the idea of "why don't you go first, asshole". Add to all that that the dog was probably not suited to the role and/or the atmosphere on the set was all wrong.

I dunno about boycotting the film, but everyone involved in that footage should be made to wear dunce caps for a month.

The right dog, the right training, and the right crew, and the dog would have literally jumped into the water, no problem.
