Probably Not Good
This is probably not so good but quite a few small trees around here are ALREADY putting out new leaves. They should not be doing this for more that a month yet.

Sunday it was 50F and damp. Today I wake up and it's 31F with an inch of snow and half an inch of ice on the ground......we are living in interesting times.

that's why it's Climate Change... higher highs, lower lows, and 3 years in a row set the overall record for Hottest Year

Re: Probably Not Good
This has definitely been the warmest January I can remember. Everything that should be snow is just rain. On the plus side I've only burned half the heating oil I normally do. Wonder if anyone's thought about it from that angle.....overall higher temps mean we're going to consume a lot less energy trying to stay warm, which means less pollution.

Well yes, but probably more for AC in the summer.

Re: Probably Not Good
Bear in mind that the 700.00 figure you quote probably does not include amortization of the investment required to install the system.

Re: Probably Not Good
That is the icky part.......initial investment in all the wells, pumps, ductwork, etc. Is probably the highest of any HVAC system, basically it's the cost of a decent new car. The newer systems out there now can last 30 years with proper maintenance though, so you're enjoying practically free heat/ac long after you paid the "car" off.

Re: Probably Not Good
Personally, I am holding out for a grid-connected solar system. By that I mean enough solar panels to supply 100 percent of my need when the sun is shining and connected so the grid can do the rest. Today the price for that is still too high but it seems to be coming down. Given my age I am not certain I will actually invest in such a system but I do have plenty of space for the panels.
