This started, back from a discussion of the merits of the Prime Directive (hint: my POV -- THERE ARE NO FUCKING MERITS in TNG-retardo-era...) and how what on the face of it, that General Order One, was a good idea, somehow morphed into COMMANDMENTS ON STONE TABLETS HANDED DOWN FROM TEH GODZ!!!....
Somehow, I do not think the original idea included you standing on your bridge sipping Earl Grey while an entire civilization dies, JUST BECAUSE. You are not the good guys or heros, in that story

Also, these guys on the judges panel, pretty much describe how the entire Federation needs to be judged.....
