For those of you not aware, Haruo Nakajima (1929-2017), just passed away at the age of 88. Likely most people do not know who he was, but he was the man who wore the Godzilla suit in the original Godzilla movie in 1954, and in 11 other movies, as well as playing a number of other Toho Studios Kaiju. He is the man who made Godzilla what it was, and left behind one heck of a legacy.

I don't know how many other Godzilla fans are out there on the Forum, but I felt the need to post this, in memorial. A couple memorial picture links, from DA, are listed below.
Rest well Haruo. *Godzilla roar* :*(

A real loss. He was the heart and soul of Godzilla.... Consider the talents necessary of being encased in a rubber suit, and yet being able to bring out the big guy's distinctive personality. Such abilities tend to get lost or forgotten in this age of CGI and motion capture.

That man brought me so much joy...

Re: RIP Haruo Nakajima (aka Godzilla)
Just ran across this today...Godzilla films were so much of a joy in my growing up...still are, in fact...
I was fortunate to meet The Men Who Were Godzilla in 1996...joyful, spirited, and truly cordial and grateful to have fans who travelled so far to meet them....

Sorry to hear the news.
I remember in the late 1970's I picked a Japanease magazine about Japanease sci-fi in general including Godzilla. I remember one pic shown while filming with Haruo wearing the lower half of the outfit.
