The Orville - Pilot (and More )

Give it a 7 for the Pilot; some stuff worked , some didn't, but a lot more good than not
Visually, it's Galaxy Quest. Way better looking than anything Discovery has shown. And played straight, so any gags are inside for the fans. It's MADE for the fans. Not getting it? Read a comic book
The young female security chief (heavy-grav world, so why she superstrong in normal g, actually accurate..) is already 10x more competent than Woof OR Yar EVER were -gee, handcuffs carried as kit? Who would have THOUGHT , the Chief Of Security would EVER NEED THOSE?? :D The old meme strong as ever: after speaking with the already-lying scientist, lets go down for a chat; party includes the CO, XO, CMO, and Security Chief. NO redshirts. Kinda thick, aint it fellas? :D
Deflector shields that work, and no exploding consoles of death. Shields, that when do FAIL, offer no protection, shockingly! Someone grinding this... :P However, bonus points for SEATBELTS, AND actually using that as a weapon.

We'll see how it goes. But it wasn't awful

So is this supposed to be a mockery, or is this supposed to be Star Trek done right? :?

Either
Both
You decide
The mockery so far, is that an intended PARODY looks way better than the puffed-up little bitches selling Discovery as Trek. At least Orville hasn't been lying and screaming at us to shut up because we teh stupidz for the past year because we don't like what we have seen and heard about it so far. Points to the Orvile guys

Plus, the level of detail they put in already is worth seeing just for the smiles. The shuttles have proper numbers, like ECV-197-1 ; that's the ship's number, shuttle #1 . an imbecile can get that, without having to figure out who's name that is from 30 years ago you never heard of.... And the model on the captain's desk, which had to think on a second. It's the Wright Flyer. Orville Wright.... lot of work put into this for just laughs, huh?

^^The truely sad thing is how many people probably needed to see said model to finally get the name.

FAUX is being fucking RETARDS, again
By their time slot, they persist in repeating the shit they did with Firefly; cover fucking spazoid NFL at the expense of a new show
And what's WORSE, aside from not fucking LEARNING shit from that , is showing a shitty NFL game, which is a fucking one-sided massacre now, in the 4th, but that is ooooo fucking life-and-death!! Fuck off FAUX. Fuck the NFL. It needs to DIE . A LOT.

I have been experiencing the same frustration as you, but worse! At least you were able to watch it in its entirety when it finally came on after the game, or if you turned to "City TV" and watched it right away! When I sat down this evening to watch my pvr recording (I always record shows from the Eastern time zone, so I have them recorded 3 hours earlier than in my Pacific time zone), I discovered that I had around 45 minutes of football game and around 10 minutes of program! Thanks, "FOX Rochester"! Even worse, I discovered it at around 8:30 pm Pacific time, when the later (Pacific time zone) airing of "The Orville" on "FOX Seattle" and "City TV Vancouver" was half over! :x I didn't want to watch the first 10 minutes from that recording, miss out on the next 20 minutes, and then watch the last half hour from a second partial recording! So, I either wait a day and watch it on "Shaw On Demand", or wait for that episode to re-air on "City TV" Wednesday night.

They are moving to the proper time slot now, 2100 EST on Thursday. Effective now I think
And the actual ep was pretty good; it could have easily been used in TNG

Finally got to watch the first episode (surprising kudos to Fox, for offering free viewing with few commercial breaks on their website at no charge).
This. Is. Awesome. Great writing, great acting, fair to good special effects (can't expect much more from a TV Series), and a plot that follows the magic formula. Feeling so much nostalgia for TNG right now......my only question is when is the first Orville convention? 8-)

The STD goes Sunday (the morons really clueless if the didn't think THAT would be hung on it...) available, wherever in whatever areas. But I getting the sense they already worried. One idea that has been floating (like unflushed crap..) is that their brilliant solution, is somewhere in the pilot, perhaps early, they are gonna do some trans-dimensional -retard -bullshit to change universes. Then promptly scream at the top of lungs ''SEEE! SEE!! THIS IS THE TOS PRIME UNIVERSE!!! YOU CANT PROOVE OTHERWISE!!!! EEEEEEEEELLLLEVENTY1!!!!111@!"
That's insane, just even suggesting THAT as an out
