Getting barbecued left Vader comparatively weak in the force. He failed to kill/capture Luke in ESB even though at that point Luke had only minimal training, then Luke comes back in ROTJ with more experience and kicks his ass.

Looking more and more like they're just going to rehash the original trilogy instead of having the balls to make something original. Oh well, at least the spin-offs are good.

Except in both cases, he was trying to persuade Luke to join him. Even in Jedi. And he still managed to kill Palpatine. What I fear, is they are going to retconn/pull stuff out of their asses which will invalidate everything he did to redeem himself, OR invent some thing we have never heard of, and pretend that THAT'S normal, like we all should have known that!
The problem is they screwed the pooch in the last movie, and that was not a good place to move forward from. Ah well

And that's part of his problem, trying to be better than his grandfather, who was "the chosen one."
