Agreed. As one who knows virtually nothing about hockey it was an excellent game.

I can only surmise that the US simply didn't have enough Tennesseans on the team.

Ryan Miller was spectacular, and ended up being named the tournament MVP. Watching two teams this talented play, is like watching a lightsabre duel -- only one mistake is all it takes, and you dont get many paper cuts there

If you havent, try and watch Crosby after the goal and hoopla , when they ask him about the goal; "I just shot it" one of the guys commenting on it asked, how the hell do you shoot from there, bad angle, in close? Even MIller was getting ready to poke check it. Players like him just act on instinct, amazing stuff

If we had to settle for silver, that's the way I wanted it to go down. Your guys earned that gold medal, no question. As for our guys, they can honestly use the old saying "We didn't lose- we just got beaten."

Well, your lads deserve credit for scaring the hell out of us in the closing seconds of the third... that shuddering gasp you may have heard was a country holding its collective breath for overtime!

In all seriousness, thanks to all of the athletes who dazzled everyone with their performances in and around Vancouver. It has been a heck of a memorable 17 days.

It's going to be hard, watching NHL games again, since the talent level per team is nowhere near what we just saw

I've been to a couple of Predators games and it's defnintely better when you're there. One guy here at work is an expatriated yankee and an off ice official. He's tried to explain the finer points of what I'm seeing but I just didn't grow up with it. I've likened it to NASCAR on ice.

At very least this was a thrilling contest to watch. We lost but not without honor so the Silver wasn't a bad thing. Wait until 2014 when you have to play the Russians on their home ice. That should be a real barn burner.

From what I saw at the closing ceremonies, the 2014 Winter games will be a repeat of the 1936 Summer games. Anybody else recognize the "new" Russian Federation anthem?

Curious how the term "barn burner" came into use for a close, exciting sports contest. It started out with the legend of the Dutch farmer who, after numerous failures, finally got rid of the rats in his barn- by burning it down. The term made its way into US politics (no surprise there) but how it became a sports term I have NO idea.

They have so many problems to prepare that place for Olympics that they already started looking for "who is guilty". However, they have a lot of resources, so I hope they will manage to do it somehow. And yes - they will seek for revenge on ice. Right now they dismiss all the managers and coaches who have some relation to hockey
