I've never started one of these topics, but this guy was the real deal. And the loss saddens me.
Hi travelogues were beyond interesting, and he spoke (and wrote - a lot) unflinchingly about his experiences. He had a zest for life and had a natural respect for every person he met.
I invite anyone who has never seen his shows to check one out. Hopefully his work will remain visible. Even so, the world just became a lesser place with his passing.

If nothing else, hopefully his death and Kate Spade's death will shine a spotlight on mental illness (be it depression or other mental disorders) and suicide prevention.
I feel so bad for his daughter. The world may have lost one of it's modern storytellers, but she will never have her dad around while she grows up.
