First, my apologies if I have posted this trivia item before.

Since the World Series starts tomorrow night and the Boston Red Sox will be playing I figured this one is timely. It also requires a touch of thinking outside the box.

There is one person (that I know about) who has played for the Boston Red Sox, the Boston Celtics, AND the Boston Bruins. Can you name the person and what he played? [Hint: Chuck Connors is not the answer. He played for the Red Sox and Celtics but no the Bruins.]

Here is an additional detail that I suspected but was just able to find confirmation a minute ago. The same person ALSO played for the Patriots. I expect this might give away the answer.

If I were to hazard a guess the answer is Rene Rancourt and he played the national anthem. As I know he has performed it for both the red sox and Bruins. As the bruins and celtics play at the same court for home games. that is my guess

No, but you are very, very close. So close, in fact, that I will go ahead with the correct answer. So far as I am aware, Rancourt has not done the anthem for the Celtics or Patriots. The correct answer (unless Rancourt is as well) is John Kiley. Kiley was the organist at both Fenway and the old Boston Garden for decades. As for the Patriots, they played at Fenway for six seasons during the Kiley era.

As an add-on, I am old enough and lived near or visited Boston enough to have hear both of them live at games.

And as another add-on, it is my understanding that Rancourt retired at the end of last season so perhaps someday their could be an opportunity for another.

he did in fact retire. Performed in one last home game and then came back for a final playoff game
