Quicksand Fans

Today, we commemorate the death of Jiminy Thicket's testicles, which later, through the hard work of Dave, Fred, and numerous others, gave birth to QSF.

So, like, happy almost-one-year-anniversary, QSF. Or something.

Jiminy's testicles gave birth to QSF? No, that does not seem right.

Judging from the join dates on the members page, April 15th 2009 appears to be the day when QSF officially opened. Somebody please correct me, if this is not the actual anniversary date.

I remember on one thread at DS where JT had been called a "Nazi" for daring to moderate his own forum. My comments were to the effect that JT had created this wonderful playground for all of us, and if anybody didn't like it, they could take their marbles and go home; i. e. start their own forum.
I also commented that JT probably wouldn't do anything to seriously alienate the whole QS community, as being the only one on the playground is very lonely.

Prophetic, eh what?

I, for one, am finally feeling like this is home - and not the proper place to re-live or re-hash the past.

Dave got the idea and server space for the site. Fortunately Kookus had excellent skills that he so generously contributed. As soon as they had something that looked like a board the rest of the producers came on line and a few very early users joined on the 14th. The joint was jumpin' by the 15th of April and the rest is history.

So, Quicksand Fans was up and running by April 15, 2009. So, the anniversary is April 15. Er... did anyone else notice that also happens to be income tax day? I don't know if it means anything, but I just noticed it.

The internet is like an ecosystem. It abhorrs a vacuum. If there is a niche for something it will be filled by whatever species can best do the job.
That being said, Happy Birthday QSF!!!

Yay Quicksand Fans! I'm so happy to count myself among the early members to sign up.

Been a year already? Hard to believe... unless it is proof time flies when you are having fun.
This has remained a fun and friendly place to be, thanks to the generosity of the good folks who run this, and of course the members who have continued to play nice and contribute to the upbeat atmosphere around here... whether by prose, images, or just well thought out commentary.

Once the calendar reaches April 15... Happy Birthday QS Fans!
