What I do in my free time

Hey, gang.

I was away from the forum for quite a while- got wrapped up in doing other things. Those "other things" are mainly transport simulator and city building games. Here are a few:

OpenTTD This is an open-source clone of the classic game Transport Tycoon Deluxe. You start a small transport company and make profits by delivering goods and passengers around the map, using the profits to expand and upgrade your network. There are easily accessed mods available to customize the game, with vehicles and buildings to match your region, modifications to the game's industries, etc. There are even scenarios to complete. Hint: under Settings --> Environment --> Cargo Distribution, set the Distribution Mode for Passengers to symmetric and the rest to asymmetric. This will give passengers, mail and other cargoes destinations rather than being able to be dropped off at any station that accepts that cargo.

Simutrans More of the above, with a bit more complexity. Again, there are different graphics ("Pak") sets for different areas. Hint: Only play Pak128 on beginner mode. If you can generate profits on regular (hard) mode, I salute you.

Transport Fever Okay, this one you have to purchase. Another transport simulator, but with modern 3D graphics. Interface can be a bit glitchy, but still a good game. Available through Steam https://store.steampowered.com/ also.

Cities: Skylines This one is a city builder, with a focus on highly accurate transport networks. The spiritual successor to the SimCity series, it was greenlit after the epic failure of the 2013 version of SimCity. Available through Steam also.
