As I have a new laptop coming tomorrow I have compiled a list of the software I plan to put on it. It occurred to me that others might find the list useful, and that yet others might like to add to it. All of the following items are freeware at least in some form.

Microsoft Expression

AVG
Before eight different people issue warnings, I am aware that freeware often comes with an installer than does naughty things.
