Lockdown? Make the Best of It

In some places at least it appears we may be asked, possibly required, to sort of lock ourselves down as a measure for dealing with the novel coronavirus. This is already in place in Italy and, I believe, a county in New York. There may be a good deal of variance in what we may be able to do, or not do, but most likely the emphasis will be on avoiding contact with large numbers of people and crowded places.

This will not be fun. I will suggest, however, that many of us may have things at home we have been putting off for a long time. If we have to spend more time at home for a while, it might be time to do some of those things.

A few suggestions:
1) Back up your video and photo collections.
2) Update your operating system and antivirus programs. AVG won't be much good for coronavirus , of course, but other things are out there.
3) Update a notebook with your passwords.
4) Try to note make things worse by being negative all the time.
5) Wash the windows.
6) Paint a few things that need it.
7) Go for walks and lose a few pounds.
8) Go for a drive, assuming its permitted. Gas is very cheap right now.
9) Get rid of a lot of stuff you don't really need.
10) Add three more suggestions to this list.

11) Do an inventory of your emergency supplies to make sure nothing's out of date.

Some more:

12) Use the time at home to replace your smoke alarm batteries.

13) When getting supplies don't forget pet food.

14) get several books to read.

15) Form a shopping group - one person goes to the market for several. No crowded cars and fewer in the stores.

16) Keep prescriptions up to date and use delivery if available, to avoid trips to the pharmacy.

17) Vacuum the dust out of your computers. They will run cooler and last longer.

For maximum safety replace the whole detector. Most of them have a lifespan of 10 years which is about how long the battery lasts. Most new smoke detectors have an internal battery that can't be replaced for this reason.

Being careful while doing so to not mistake the hand sanitizer for the hand lotion.

Indeed. It would be much better if we could all stay on the reasonable side. I suppose, however, that number 18 might be a reasonable thing to do for people who are full of shit.
