After some prodding, decided to start a new thread for the new season :)

Here are some of the better ones so far this season, from onboard the Algoway

Very cool pictures! The moonlight shot was nicely done. Tricky is right. Did you shoot it at a high ISO setting, or did you stabilized the camera the best you could, opened up the aperture, and hoped for the best? Thanks for sharing these!

The simple answer is "yes" but I am not a Vorlon :D

ISO was set at 3200, and only stabilization was the lens itself - Nikon 18-105 VR zoom, shot at 24mm F/4 1/8 sec on the Nikon D300. No tripod at hand, and wouldnt have made as big a difference anyways with the ship moving, so just handheld - not the first time done that. Maybe pushing the ISO 2 more steps would make for sharper on speed, but you would also lose to the increased grainyness, so its a bit of a wash. Full sized shot available, might be a nice print if get the chance

More pics when able, on way back down Huron with more stone

Thanks for the reply!

I hear ya. I still prefer film, but can appreciate being able to set a digital SLR to a higher ISO for situations like that.

A few more -- lousy weather at the moment, so nothing but grey and rain out there :P

A full-size shot here, not sure what the occasion was, but a trio of USCG ships dressed for something at Port Huron, MI. Looks like 3 generations of cutters here, an interesting study for ship design fans :)

Hey nice pictures.
I'd like to know more too of the technical details of the shots too.
I have a D90 with the same 18-105 lens.
Maybe post them on dpreview.com. Its a camera site and fourm for groups to talk about cameras and lenses.
