Hurricane Ida

Postby Fred588 » Sat Aug 28, 2021 2:17 am

Anyone here who is located in New Orleans or vicinity, beware that Hurricane Ida is forecast to be a category 4 when it comes ashore, and to do so in almost the same place that Katrina did. In case you don't know, Katrina came ashore as a 3.

Get the hell out of the way. Yes it might weaken to a 2 or 3. But I guess it could also strengthen to a 5.

And the forecast path carries it to the hurricane graveyard of Middle Tennessee by Tuesday. I was in southern Louisiana a week ago and this will be sixteen years almost to the day Katrina hit. My cousin was living there then but now resides 700 feet above sea level near me. Spent a week helping him get out of there and a week in Gulfport, Mississippi after that helping clean up. One thing I did learn was if you are caught and can't get away, chain your ass to a Waffle House sign. No matter the destruction anywhere we went they always remained undamaged. At very least it will be easy to find your body.

Yeah, run. Now. Don't wait.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for over 20 years. Thank you.

First big one in a while. Thoughts and prayers to all those affected. Hopefully it'll run out of steam fairly quickly.

Catching the tail end of it up here in the Northeast. Positively torrential rainfall right now causing localized flooding in some spots. Not having as bad a day as poor New Orleans but yech. :x :x
