I remember it being featured on the tv show "What Will They Think Of Next?" during my childhood back in the 70's (now the show's theme music is stuck in my head this evening). I remember that they said that it was good for "mud that is too deep to walk in, and too thick to swim in". I remember someone standing waist deep (or was it deeper) in mud next to it.

It mentions all the stuff it can be used on but saying "quicksand" must have been taboo
