He made a lot of movies that were "actors movies" where it's more about the message and the skill in delivering it. Watch Raisin in the Sun or Lilies of the Field and you'll see what I mean. Guess Who's Coming to Dinner looks very dated now but maybe that movie is one reason why. For a man who got tossed from his first audition for sounding like an inarticulate clod he did very well. Obviously he was doing what nature intended him to do.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for over 20 years. Thank you.
