Congratulations, if it works out you are right!!! Hope you enjoy it wisely, and get some help (as Mynock said) in managing it wisely. Also, as Dave said, don't blab it to everybody, it will just cause you trouble (one of the first investments might be in a firearm, and a training class, if your're in a concealed-carry state).

Put half the remainder in a money market account and the rest in a good mutual fund. Don't buy any single stocks, don't buy real estate, don't put it in any special investment with a friend.

Haha, yeah I haven't told anyone but my girlfriend about it. Considering she lives out of state, I'm gonna put about a fourth of it aside for trips to see her, save about 50 thousand for after marriage (in a few years we hope ^_^) and...Well...I'm not sure what to do with the rest XD

Can see your point (especially the "gifts will be cheapened" thing), but hiding it would mean he'd be lying to his girlfriend for years, and that doesn't sound like a healthy relationship. Especially if they are pretty serious and might possibly get married. Can you the imagine the blow-up if somehow she accidentally found out a few years later? "You won a hundred thousand dollars and didn't tell me?!"

Anyway, I'm very happy for you sinkersdemon. And yeah, don't tell anyone else, even best friends. Lying to friends is ok. (If they find out later and are annoyed you kept a secret, that doesn't stop you getting laid!)

Damn dude! Congratz! Just be sure not to blow it all. Think about every investment that you use it for. You don't want to look back and think "damn, I should have saved some of that for this" you know? Be wise and responsible and again Congratz! ^_^

25,000 is a lot for travelling. It might be better spent on you two moving together permanently though. Of course I don't really know whether that makes sense in your current situation. Only you can tell that.

What I am actually trying to say is that with that amount of money, there may be some new options available to you which you have not even considered so far.

Easy come - easy go. Don't rely on these money. Don't plan anything great with them. If you badly need something - you know how to spend the money. If you don't - just spend them easily. They may help, but they would never make you happy. Consider charity, by the way. I would never give such an advice of spending hard-earned money. But this is another case.
