Not only do I forget where I put everything but...

At 62, I'm learning piano. I've been at this about a year now.

Ooooooh boy. Talk about brain pain. Owie ouchy ooooh.

Mine too! But there's so many keys on this thing!

Good news, though. I probably won't get dementia now.

Brain: Sure! /recites song from memory

Me: That was cool thanks. Now where did we put the car keys when we came home last night?

Brain: Uuuuh......hmmm

Me: Brain?

Brain: Wait I got this.....

Me: /sigh. Brain we're late for work.

Brain: Uh.....you wanna hear that song again?

This is so so true!

I'm less than half your age Fred, and I..... what were we talking about again? :? Oh yeah, I've been there done that too ;)

I'll also walk into a room and be like, "okay, sooo... what exactly did I come in here for?" Then I'll walk back to the kitchen empty handed; see the empty paper towel holder and be like, "Ohhh... so that's what I went out there for!"

Oh, TELL me about it! I'm doing the following straight from memory (born in 1960) .... LOOOOOOOONG term memory I guess. Some quizzes for you all too. ;) Afterwards I added links for your reference if you do not recognize the 'toon.

"Flintstones! Meet the Flintstones! They're a modern stone-age familyyyy..." https://youtu.be/uq7noaMwLfg

"There's George Jetson ........... His boy Elroy.........Daughter, Judy............." https://youtu.be/0JQbeCAlF6s?t=7

"Tra la laaaaaaaaa! ...... La la-la la!....Tra la la, la la-la laaaaa!" (You Guess It)

"Scooby Dooby Doo! Where are you? You're ready and willing. If we can count on you, Scooby Doo, I know we'll catch that villain!" https://youtu.be/0_C2HJvtRDY

"George, George, George of the jungle. Strong as he could be!" https://youtu.be/D8rViF7V_oA

"Overture, dim the lights. This is it, we'll hit the heights. And oh what heights we'll hit..... On with the show this is it!" (You Guess It)

Popeye never DID get lyrics in his opening theme, did he? Well, blow me down.") He did sing "Popeye the sailor man" sometimes, but the opening theme was always instrumental. https://youtu.be/NAW20PhGAbI

"when you find your life in danger...When you're threatened by a stranger ...When it looks like you will take a lickin'!" (You Guess It)

"King Kong! You know the name of King Kong! You know the fame of King Kong! Ten times as big as a mannnnnn!" https://youtu.be/jSqYbqgyffM
(I recall this one well because it came on just as I had to leave for Catholic Catechism class each Saturday.....I was so bummed!)

"Tommmmm slick! Tommmmm slick! You know the reason why.... he's the best of all good guys!" (A big favorite!!) https://youtu.be/BLXInbNQG6I

I use to remember the words to "Tennessee Tuxedo and his Tales", but I guess those brain cells actually got re-used for something else...maybe remembering reruns of "Married with Children" https://youtu.be/5LqP6Cchmjs

BogDog,

I had forgotten Super Chicken - the rest were embedded in my brain. The Saturday morning King Kong cartoon is a good one: “One day a boy, too young to know the danger ...” I think many people my age may have forgotten that one. How about: “When criminals in this world appear ... And break the laws that they should fear...?” (Hint - another cartoon superhero).

Just when I thought I had the Banana Splits theme song out of my head...
I can still name all four of them; can you? ;)

(but I still can't remember where I left my readers...)

Kong and my hero - There's no need to fear! Underdog is here! Even at that age I was grooving when Sweet Polly Purebread fell in the giant cake batter mixer.

And does anyone remember another great Jay Ward creation - Roger Ramjet ? I can still recite the lyrics -

Roger Ramjet he's our man. It's he who loves our nation. For his adventures just be sure and stay tuned to this station!

I took lessons for five years when I was young enough to remember anything and when I got done, I still couldn't play any better than I could before I began. You'll be great.
