May be getting old

I may be getting old. This morning I encountered an urgent need to replace the male end of an extension cord. No problem ( I thought) as I had just purchased a package of five cord replacements from Amazon about a month ago. Alas they were nowhere to be found. I searched everywhere for twenty minutes. I pretty much looked in every conceivable place three or four times. No plugs. OK, plan B. I dug out an older cord of the right wire gage and rating, wired that into the appliance that needed it, and everything worked.

And then, not ten minutes later, I walked out onto the front porch, which is where the replacements were supposed to be. And there they were, right out in plain sight. Grrrrr1

We've all done it, Sir. More than once. Some more recently than others

Try being 20:400 vision nearsighted (like I am) and forgetting where in the world you put down your only pair of glasses. Then trying to find them when you can’t see. I’m 67 and this happens to me about once per week. Like they said - happens to us all.

I'm forty and I've had this conversation more than once....

Me: Hey Brain, can you play the theme song from that cartoon I liked when I was five?

Brain: Sure! /recites song from memory

Me: That was cool thanks. Now where did we put the car keys when we came home last night?

Brain: Uuuuh......hmmm

Me: Brain?

Brain: Wait I got this.....

Me: /sigh. Brain we're late for work.

Brain: Uh.....you wanna hear that song again?

We may be using the same brain. Sorry.

I have a mountain of spare and replacement everything as Fred is describing and most of it is where it belongs but I can't recall where that is most of the time either. I usually find it when not needed. I'm currently in the process of renovating a large block barn to use for all that handy stuff. I keep cleaning out similar piles of things left behind by the previous inhabitants that must have been forgotten many times. Someday someone will probably do the same for all the crap I'll leave in there.
