To those no longer with us....

No political or religious topics please. Otherwise, anything goes, as long as we treat each other with respect.

Just last week, I heard both Raspberries hits “Go All the Way” and I “I Wanna Be With You” within the same hour on two different satellite radio channels in the car (I was banging the steering wheel). They are quintessential, hard driving guitar pop songs, with great vocals, as well. I can vaguely play them on my Strat, but can’t come close to the original guitar work. Eric Carmen was the driving force there, and the songs bring back high school and college for me. RIP.

An Oscar-worthy and Oscar-winning performance. Many good scenes, but I thought the best one was when Mayo (Richard Gere) breaks all the facade down and begs, tells Sgt. Foley (Gossett) that he has “nowhere else to go . . . nowhere else to go . . . I got nothing.” And Sgt. Foley shows his human side and says, “all right Mayo, on your feet” and lets him stay in training. Gossett’s facial expression when he says this is priceless after all the barking and badgering of OCS training. One of my favorite movies, and Gossett’s performance makes the picture. RIP.

Joe Lieberman, 82. No political discussion here, but (I believe) a truly decent person. RIP.
