** Have you ever noticed any unique patterns or interests related to quicksand among individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Asperger's Syndrome? Some anecdotal evidence suggests a fascination with quicksand scenarios in certain individuals. Could there be a connection between this interest and the specific cognitive styles associated with ASD?

Anecdotally, seems to be a lot of people on the spectrum in the community. A higher than normal percentage for sure.

The kink would lend itself well to sensory seeking behavior.

Nobody could diagnose a person just by reading discord and forum comments and also there's a good chance I just don't understand online culture these days.

It's been a fascination of mine for a while though. I'd like to know what set of screws most of us have loose that give us all such a specific interest.
~my wife works in autism research and we both have several members of our families on the spectrum and so I am not talking completely out of my ass~

While it is quite possible this could be true, it could also be the result of a very small number of observed cases. It could also be that being on, or not on, the spectrum might affect willingness to talk about it. Always remember that correlation says nothing about causation.
