Just heard that Tony Curtis pased away on Sept. 30. A true acting legend we will all miss!

Thanks for posting the reminder Mudmaiden... I meant to but got distracted.

Some of my favorite movies are actually some of his lesser known ones: "Trapeze" and "Who was that Lady," but my all time favorite is "The Vikings".

Another true original is gone, all the more sadder when one compares Tony and his ilk to what passes for celebrity these days...

Ah, that one. I must admit I find it funny when American actors try to do English accents (to be fair it's probably just as funny the other way round - though Hugh Lawrie does pretty well in House, I believe) - but Tony Curtis's Brooklyn vowels in mediaeval England gets me every time.

Oh - and before anyone else says it: I'm Spartacus.

I was particularly fond of Operation Petticoat.

I concur with PM2K... they don't make them like Tony anymore.

I was a big Tony Curtis fan. He was one of those guys that rose to a high level in old Hollywood and never took himself too seriously. After reading accounts of his funeral I can truly believe that. Apparently there was much laughter and he was buried with his Stetson and his favorite gadget, his iPhone. A proud veteran of the Second World War he was put away with appropriate honors in a flag draped coffin.

His contributions to our particular interest, while peripheral, bear mention. He was married to Janet Leigh of Psycho fame and remains the only actress I know of to have been sunk while wrapped in a shower curtain in the trunk of a car. Daughter Jamiel Lee Curtis was the subject of some discussion here recently for her sand monster scene as a young actress on Buck Rogers.

Seriously, a much appreciated great actor and a cool guy.
