Actually got our "January Thaw" on Valentine's day. Then it turned bitter cold again- this morning the temperature was 9 degrees F with a wind chill of -20 F.

Now that the sun is coming back, we're getting massive freeze/thaw cycles. Those do very nasty things to roads.

Actually got into a little bit of "quicksnow" last week while I was wading around the house with the roof rake. Was struggling through thigh-deep snow when I hit a spot that was deeper. When I tried to walk forward, I sank instead- the more I moved, the deeper I went down as my feet hit less-compacted snow. Ended up almost waist deep. That was just enough unexpected, involuntary sinking to trigger the QS fetish.
