Well at least if there's a God I will.
There I am all week at school, answering the phone, checking in students that are late, dealing with calls from parents, all the time thinking " oh well I caught a cold" .
Well yesterday I was so bad that I wound up in the emergency room thinking I was dieing, I now have two antibiotics, a bottle of codeine cough suppressant, Prednisone and Proventil with two refills on that one, found out I have bronchitis, so bad I could hardly breathe at all. Needless to say the principal and my boss both said take next week off. So I think I will. I just want this over, I don;t know why I got it cause I have never smoked in my entire life

Bronchitis, as a term, describes a symptom (inflamation of the bronchii) not a specific infection. Its a common complaint by smokers but there are certainly many causes. The antibiotic prescriptions mean the doctor thinks it is, or might be, a bacterial infection.
Take care of yourself.

I am glad you work for people who are understanding. I can't say I always had that luxury.
Not smoking never helped me out much.
Nearly every cold I get turns into a body-flattening flu and I've had bronchitis a few times. Plenty of rest, lots of fluids, and religiously taking any pill the doctor tells you to is essential. Take good care of yourself and eventually it will go away.

Thanks guys, its 1:30 am and I cant' even get to sleep right now I'm so tired. Fred the doc said it was bacterial, but I always heard from my parents that it was only caused if you smoked. I don;t know apparently it doesn't matter if you ever smoked or not, all I do know is I wouldn't wish this on the guy who screwed me over for a redhead when I was 15.

An old helpful suggestion: Take a handkerchief and unfold it flat. Take a bit of Vick's Vapor Rub and smear that thinly from one corner to the opposite corner, then fold the handkerchief in half by bringing the other two corners together (so the vicks now runs the length of the fold) and roll the handkerchief up to tie around your neck. You should be able to smell the vicks as you lie back down to sleep.
It's what I did for my Mrs. when she last got sick that way. It's what my grandmother would do for me, back when I was a sick kid.

I had a bout of that last year. I found using methol crystals in a steamroom helped me! If you don't have a steamroom try putting some Vics or methol crystals into a metal bowl, fill with hot water and put a towel over your head.
It's bad but it's not the worst. A collapsed lung... that's
really what you don't want

You might ask a doctor to order a blood test to see if you have an immunuoglobin deficiency. There are 4 types: G1, G2, G3, and G4 - that can be relevant to sinus and bronchial infections. I was like you described for 35 years - always having every sickness turn into bronchitis. I found out that I had a G1 and G2 deficiency - probably from birth. It means you need antibiotics whenever you start to get sick. I take a 500 mg amoxicillin every day as a preventative. It is rare, but finally being diagnosed has improved my life 100%. Just a thought FYI.
