This fetishism is a psychological or mental disorder caused due to brain dysfunction.
Hey, I always knew I was crazy, but everyone else here too?
Next they'll claim that homosexuality is also a disorder that can be cured. Oh, wait. We already had that somewhere, didn't we?

Well all fetishes are a psychological condition, and most of the time it's damn good for the person!
I believe this to be nothing more than a conservative piece of rubbish. Technically everything that goes beyond eating, breathing, expelling waste products and procreating is dysfunctional. As far back as history goes we have records of fetishism, eccentrics, geniuses, models, murderers, psycho and sociopaths... yet here we are as strong as ever.

Brain dysfunction???
Ya know, I can accept the fact that I'm not like other people...but...come on, now...brain dysfunction???
No no no no no, I sink in quicksand-deep kind of mudpits because IT FEELS GOOD.
All those normal people just don't know how good it feels to sink in quicksand. If they did, they'd want to do it too.
I do think it is possible that I lost some ability to concentrate and multitask due to the fact that for years, I was a heavy drinker. I will go ahead and blame alcohol for some mental dysfunction that I still suffer. It ain't serious or severe but it is there.
But I certainly don't think my mudpitting has impacted my mental functioning in any way. If anything, the exercise of hiking and sinking has increased blood flow to the brain, plus, I have learnt a lot of new spatial skills by navigating new mud sites.
I miss the time I used to spend on quicksand creativity. I don't have time to draw or write much any more nor can I sit and read quicksand stories like I used to.
But that stuff didn't make me dysfunctional either. I became a better artist by exercising my creative skills, and the art and writings of others inspired my imagination.
Quicksand, overall, has enhanced my mental function. It hasn't made me dumber.

Psychotherapies like cognitive, behavioral and talk therapies are very useful to improve quality of behavior.
That IS an intriguing idea--a treatment course designed to help you get the most satisfaction out of your sinking fetish. Thank you, strange site dedicated to helping solve problems that aren't actually problems!

I actually underwent, informally 'tis true, something like that back in 2005. I'd call it "intensive mud therapy". I had so much mud on that mud trip...one day totalled about six hours out at the site!...and NO cameras or demands by other people anywhere whatsoever to crap up the psychological effects obtained by simple indulgence.
There was just one mud partner there who'd been through it all himself.
It worked. Not only did I figure out my own "take" on quicksand fetishism out there, but I learnt enough from the conversations we had and the process of hiking to and from remote wilderness sites to continue alone.
Denial never worked for me. Learning a lifestyle that accommodates it does.
