Core I7 I950
EVGA X58 Mobo
Cosair Dominator 1600Mhz (3x2Gb)
EVGA GTX 580 Superclocked Edition
Patriot Inferno SSD 60Gb (x1)
Western Digital Caviar Black HDD 500Gb (x1)
DVD/CD RW Drive (can't remember manufacturer off the top of my head)
Antec Lanboy Case

Little pricy but it'll slaughter any game on the market and that GTX 580 doubles as a space heater when you're running it hard. :)

I'm gonna pass on Gears 3 and Mw3,
Never really liked Gears, and they always have these obnoxiously life-absorbing achievements.
CoD has just worn itself out.
I'm more bored with FPSs than I am with Pink Floyd and quicksand combined.
Enjoy it though, I'm sure its a great game.

I don't know what to tell you about quicksand, but Pulse, plus a 4500 watt (that's actually conservative - coming from an ex-sound guy) home theater?

Bored?

Hardly....

I usually ignore Achievements unless they sound like something particulary fun or interesting that I would like to try. I won't go out of my way to play a game in a way that isn't fun just to have a thing pop up on my screen. "Congratulations! You collected 100 pointless items that do nothing except give you this message!"

The game Singularity had quite a good one - "I ain't got time to bleed", the name being a Predator reference. You had to kill 15 enemies with the Predator-style minigun (Autocannon) without reloading. Not terribly challenging, but I wouldn't have thought to try it if that acheivement were not there, and it was quite satisfying to do it.

(Singularity is quite good, by the way. It's not very original, but it plays like a "best of" collection of games from the past twenty years. Half-Life 1 meets Half-Life 2 meets Bioshock meets FEAR meets Timesplitters meets Call of Duty meets Wolfenstein meets C&C Red Alert, with a crazy time travel plotline. And the gameplay changes changes every 10 minutes, keeps mixing things up. Came out a year or two ago so it is probably dirt cheap now.)

But killing a gazillion enemies with a certain type of weapon or getting through a level without dying once or whatever, screw that.

The fact that in Half-Life games some people decided to carry a pointless object from the beginning of the game all the way to the end, just for the hell of it, meant that in HL2: Episode Two they did an achievement for carrying a garden gnome througout the whole game. Especially challenging giving the driving sections, where your only option was to just balance the gnome in the car and hope it didn't bounce out while driving around. I could never be arsed to do such a thing, and lots of people got angry at that achievement because it was so hard to do and they felt they had no choice but to do it in order to get 100% achievements. My response? Who says you need 100% achievements? It's a frigging singleplayer game, play the game any way you want to play it. Don't turn a fun game into an annoying game just to get some stupid achievement popup message.

Ok,
About Floyd,
I can't even look at that cover anymore,
I was tired of pulse before it even came out,
I saw them on that tour at the Syracuse Dome On June 6th, 1994.
I ate (not exaggerating) 1/2 oz of mushrooms.
But look, I can hear any Floyd song, every sound effect, everything any time I want in my head.
I can't even stand the big albums (wall, dark side, relics, wish you were here)
And the albums I like (more, obscured, meddle, animals) were worn out by the mid-90s.
In 1996 I played bass for a cover band called Crazy Diamond for about 2 weeks cause their guy was sick or in jail or something.
Pink Floyd is in my blood and my soul, like quicksand,
But I'm just so sick of hearing it.

As far as achievements go, to each their own I guess.
I have 100% completion on like 40-something games.
It can be a drag, or just too tough for some people, but that's what I like to do.
Yea, I'm sick of going after the Expert of War cheev on Homefront (a shiity game that I hate playing) but I will get it.
Senseless? Yeah, about as senseless as sitting up all night in my garage drawing quicksand pictures that I can't even show anyone. Hey, you caught me, I'm a senseless person I guess.
I never used to care about achievements until I got the Mile High Club cheev on cod4, and none of my friends could get it.
Now I purposely go after cheevs that no one else would bother with, 'cept other achievement hunters.
I know that nobody is impressed, but it makes me feel better.
I've always tried to 100% games long before achievements existed.
I 100%ed gta3 without any guidance, and at one time I was convinced that I was the 1st person in the western hemisphere to kill ruby and emerald weapon.
I wish there was a way to retroactively get cheevs for games I played before xbox.

But since I already know that I didn't like the last 2 gears,
It's just not worth it to me to even put it on my game history.

gears of war 3 was awsome! Best campaign of the 3 and 4 player CO - OP! Can't go wrong. A lot of content and value for $60. Which is rare now a days.

Gears has some of the easiest achievements. SO IDK how life aborsbing it would be. I just got half from only 1 play through of the game.

I agree with COD getting stale. Athough MW3 is making some pretty big and tough changes. Campaign looks to be the usual. But Spec ops and multiplayer look to be expanded upon immensely.
