(Sigh) Talk about nostalgia! I miss working on those Hornets. I was an F/A18C Avionics tech in the Marines from 94-99 with VMFA 314 (the Black Knights). I might have a few pics on my laptop from the USS Nimitz World Cruise, somewhere on here. My fav was working with the FLIR pods (Forward Looking Infra-Red); I would sit in the cockpit at night and track a coyote a mile away on the other side of the flight line!

Cool find. I know almost nothing about fighter jets but watching them in action is always fun.

For followers of Cap'n Lex's Blog you usually find some good Hornet nostalgia there (and his flying and A-K stories are great  ) Even more so now, since he has recently switched jobs from flying bugsmashers for one of these...

Ah, the F-21. I had no idea the Aggressors were still flying those.

Not sure they are, the outfit he working for is a private company that does contract work for the Navy as simulated targets, missiles and DACM opponents. From his writing, the Kfir aint no F-18, and that's just the fuel system :) But all things considered, he seems very happy driving this now compared with a Beechcraft

I'll never get used to seeing those without a different kind of star on the side. 8-)
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

:D

It is a bit of a dragster, with high speeds for rotation and landing, as well as needing a drag chute. Short legs too, you can tell it was designed for its' theatre of operations, and that's it
