Quicksand Fans

As promised, attached is a picture of Charles, the abandoned and discovered Maltipoo, found on Scott Drive in New City on December 11, 2009. I took this about 30 min ago on the exact spot where I first saw the little fellow walking down the street, having a fine day and not knowing anything about his future. Found a home, lucky little dog indeed.

Set faces to "awwwww...." He looks pretty perky there. A beautiful dog indeed.

And the cuteness continues...

Well, maybe he's glad to visit it for nostalgia purposes. It's the place where he met you. So it's the best road he ever walked on.

But I'm sure he was glad to go home with you after the picture was taken!

After you've had any dog for a while you realize that his finding you isn't half as wonderful as you finding him. I've got a twelve year old Akita/German Shepard mix sitting on my feets right now. When we first got her I wasn't all happy because wife and daughter brought her home as a "surprise". After her first few days here we became inseparable. She's my constant shadow and partner in the silent counsel that dogs manage so well. We've had amazing conversations over the years and I know she knows what I'm talking about and always agrees with me. Most dogs are brilliant, compassionate, creatures and have become so intertwined with humans that aliens would think us some kind of co-species.

Lucky dog. Luckier still the human.

Quite right, I am luckier for having found Charlie, he rescued me. And considering the circumstances, if I had not driven down my road at precisely that moment - 1 minute before or after - I would never have seen him. Pure lucky chance and if he was abandoned on our street, then whoever did this horrible act (and the next day was an ice storm), Charlie was in the worst possible situation at precisely the BEST moment. Again, luck. And he is inseparable from me. He is part of our family and we are part of his pack.

I don't meet many animals that I don't like but dogs are really special. They bond to us so well that we can tell what they're feeling just by looking into their eyes!
