He was Penn State football. The end of an era. To anyone who followed collage football we know we owe him a lot.
Rest well in peace Joe.

I am a Penn State alum - both undergrad and graduate - early 80's. Joe had been there forever, even then. I frequently sat a row or two behind him and his family at church services in Eisenhower Auditorium. He would walk campus and just talk to students. I was an RA in the dorms with 6 football players on my floor. They unanimously respected him and were afraid to act up because they would get into more trouble with him than with the University discipline system ( wasn't into the discipline thing - just so long as everyone respected everyone else's rights). You have to have gone to Penn State to understand just how genuine he was and what he meant to the students, win or lose. The University Board of Trustees were both gutless and nutless in the way they treated him. Look at Syracuse University and their basketball assistant, who was currently employed and did the same thing as Sandusky. Syracuse simply said that they were keeping their head coach, Jim B., and program: go away, reporters. And they went away. PSU handled just about everything as wrongly as could be humanly possible.
I feel a little like my father died. I think many alums feel the same way. God bless him and rest in peace and honor, Joe - you earned it.
