Not Forrest, although with these jokers, one wonders....

GUMP

Probably that horn blaring in the background distracted them, eh?

Not to pick on 'em too hard, but I got another vid clip of a French Mirage driver doing exactly the same thing. Skidded all the way down the runway and ended up sideways. He elected not to eject, perhaps hoping the crate would blow up and end his humiliation...

This is painful to watch, but remarkable that the Turkish pilots were able to get it back into the air before the airspeed bled off too much. You have to wonder how much damage was done by going around vs. how much would have been done by letting it grind to a stop.

Edit: Sadly, the poster cut the video off just as the CL-215 was lifting off. This was from "Ice Pilots," if anyone is interested in catching the whole show. It's a great series for vintage airplane and arctic flying buffs.

During the first MPV trip to Canada they were beset by forest fires nearby. One CL-215 pilot had flown too many times one day and tried to land on a lake with his gear down. The plane flipped and he was fished out by a local guy with a boat who happened to be watching activity. 8-)
