Of quicksand and testosterone

(Warning- male health discussion)

I've been away from the forum for quite a while recently. Just sort of lost interest in QS- and about everything else. Assumed it was just the antidepressants not working right. Then I started to have- problems. Figured that was a side effect of the blood pressure meds, stress and age (just turned 44.)

Anyway, turns out that I was suffering from "Low-T", low testosterone level. So now the doc is going to give me steroids (Yaaaay!) to cure the problem. Last time I was on steroids (for a valid medical reason) I got in the best shape of my life and felt GRRRREAT!

Here's hoping that my appetite for babes in quicksand comes back along with my appetite for females in general and my Lady specifically.

And guys, if you are constantly tired, achy, and generally turning into an old man before your time, TELL THE DOCTOR EVERYTHING THAT IS WRONG!!!!

Indeed, a loss of energy or interest in things, especially a sudden loss, is nothing to ignore. Take care of yourself.

I've seriously considered looking into this on my deployment. All the warning signs are there. I do let my wife know that she is loved, and I take care of business in any way I can.

So the hard part for me is drawing the line were I want to be intimate with her like I was nineteen, AND realize I'm 47. <Grrrrrr> Maturity, what a concept.

Good luck. With all the meds available (re: tv ads) you have a good shot of overcoming this.

I turned 49 last week and everything seems to be working pretty good but my wife was the one with the testosterone issues of late. She's about a year and half older than me and a fitness instructor so you don't normally think of anything being out of whack with her. She's been cranky and subject to wild mood swings since our first date. (April 2, 1983) A few months ago the doctor finally got her to stop taking birth control pills which had suppressed her testosterone levels to very low even for a woman. A little supplement and dang! I got the girl from 1983 back! This spring I will not be running the CM half marathon alone this time. She's going to be running with me.

Now at the opposite end of the scale I've got a daughter who just turned 12...

Woah-ohh! Don't know what the answer is for that one, old bean...on the other hand, I'm sure _she_ does (isn't that about the age when children begin to know absolutely everything? ;) )

Pete

I'd be happy with the way I was at 42!

My Lady Wife is a few years (16) my senior, but treats me like you treat your Lady. Sounds like you two also have a great marriage. :)

Yes, she does know everything. Just ask her.

And your avatar is doing wonders for my quicksand testosterone.

Update: So far, responding to treatment very well. I feel- normal. :) (Well, "normal" being a relative term, but you get the drift. . .) My morning coffee actually works again, and I feel the urge to exercise for the first time in years.

You've been missed.

I've felt like that for a decade and more - and it's getting worse. I'd like to think that all I have to do is pop a few steroids and I'll be able to write DS stories again, but I doubt it's that simple.

Mind you, if these pills also make you want to take exercise, then keep them away from me.
