Over at the USNI Blog, CDR Sal smacks the LCS around (again) politely
The 600-million dollar mobile 57mm gun with a helo deck snark, should leave a mark. Mostly because its true, and that pesky reality is starting to set in.
Just for a dash of perspective? This thing would have its ass owned by an Elco PT Boat circa 1943.

Re: Reimaging
The Art of Facepalm indeed.
I did some design sketches of my own for a next-gen warship. It's a SWATH hull, heavily armored semi-submersible with stealth construction. The single turret forward has the same 120mm Rheinmetall smoothbore as on the Abrams. "Smart" shells (terminal guidance) let one gun do the work of a battery.
The midships hull is all VLCS tubes for whatever munitions you want. Astern of the superstructure is a single ASW helo pad with a winch-in hangar under the Bridge. Drive is diesel-electric (electric motors in the pontoons) with an auxiliary turbine-generator for when you need lots of speed and/or electricity.
Be nice to combine this design with a laser CIWS instead of the Vulcan/Phalanx.

LOL.....looks like somebody up-armored a yacht. That little pop gun on the nose is cute.
