The LCS concept itself is nonsense. What do you call an LCS that is brought up to what it should be? A frigate.

Although in defense of the legend, the Cannon class DEs were diesel-electric drive, so they had tons of juice (6,000 horsepower hooked to big generators, 4 MW or so) available for high-energy experimentation.

I think I see where they're trying to go with this but it's not worth the money imho. Stop chasing the pirates, find out where their harbor is, and napalm it. Problem solved.
