Re: 12 killed in Colorado theater shooting.
(sigh)
they said there is a scene in the movie similar to wat happened.
Im just waiting for it to come out
if you dont understand
(inside the court room)
Prosicuter: what exactly made you do something as heinous As this?
Killer: Well i did something like this in GTA 4 in a strip club and killed 40 people and 100 cops. i knew if the cops got there i would have had to kill them too.
Prosicuter: Oh, well... i see the problem now. Judge, this man is not the problem, the videogame GTA is. He may be a little mental so we'll just put him in a mental institution for a few years. Then we can focus on getting this game GTA off the streets before more people begin killing!
Because for some reason, every time i turn around videogames are being blamed for crimes, kids disbehaving, "I was drunk driving because i could do it in GTA", (and its mostly GTA and other M for mature games, but mostly GTA that gets blaimed for personal stupidity and mentality)

I haven't heard about this scene (mostly because I've been trying to avoid spoilers as I'm planning to see TDKR at some point). I did however, hear about a trailer that got pulled for a gangster movie that had a scene similar to what happened in Colorado with gangsters shooting into a movie theater. Could it be this trailer you heard about?
And yes, I agree video games are not to blame for this. The killer is.

Re: 12 killed in Colorado theater shooting.
I recall sometime in the past, there was a shooting in New York. It was during the first showings of the movie called "Boyz In The Hood'. Several people were killed there too. They say that incident was gang related if I remember! It's horrible that you can't feel safe in the moviehouse! But I concur with the rest of you about the cause for such bizzare behavior. If my father (may he rest in God's care) loved tv westerns, he didn't go out in the streets and start shoot em ups with people he disagreed with. I grew up watching Bruce Lee Kung Fu movies! I didn't go out and take Karate lessons so that I can mame and kill people I don't like. People like the shooter in Colorado, and the person at West Virginia University some years back, both had severe mental and emotional problems that motivated them to commit homicide. They are the kind who go over the edge of reason and commit these horrific acts. People want to make some emotional sense out of all this so they quickly think and say, those violent westerns are to blame, those fighting karate flicks, those gangster movie, those horror movies. This shooter in Colorado had premeadiated (sp) his horrific act. He was going to do it even if there was no action/violent movie involved. Something in this poor shooter's twisted, tortured mind told him to kill innocent lives! Like the old saying goes - Guns dont kill people, people kill people. The human race are the only species on this planet that hunt down and destroy themsevles. That is the issue we need to address!

A correction to my statement. There were no reported shootings in New York (Im glad, Ny gets a bum rap most of the time) but there were incidents all over the country over this 90s movie:

Re: 12 killed in Colorado theater shooting.
The issue dealing with mentally incompetent or potentially dangerous psychotic people used to be an easy one. You called the police and told them "so and so is acting really depressed and dropping out of school and buying guns, someone better have a talk with this guy". The cops would investigate, and if it was felt necessary the person would be commited to a state run mental hospital.
Then some jackasses decided that crazy people have rights and shouldn''t be locked up just because they were 'different'. In the name of political correctness it was decided that just because Jeffery the cannibal has an eating disorder he shouldn't not be allowed to just wander around free. Now you have a system where until and unless somebody flips out and stabs someone or goes on a shooting spree nothing can be done for them if they don't voluntarily seek treatment.

I can see the point, but on the other hand, such an area also would wind up with people calling in about "this guy Sydney that lives upstairs, we've seen him come down several times the past year dressed in women's clothes." And in some areas, just like that, I'd find myself locked away with the man with the eating disorder.
This doesn't mean we shouldn't be concerned about someone who's a recluse, though.
In other news, I should probably at least learn the names of at least my most immediate neighbors here.
