A true hero and pioneer... a rare person who wasn't just an American hero, but a world hero.

Farewell and safe journey, Neil.

I once saw an interview with Neil Armstrong's high school science teacher. In the fall of Neil's senior year his teacher asked Neil "After high school what's next." Neil pointed to the moon and responded "I want to meet that man on the moon someday."
Sounds like it was meant to be.

I remember watching the Moon landing at a friend's house, and being absolutely captivated by it. I think it's safe to say that Neil was a TRUE hero, unlike today's so-called celebrities. His footprints on the Moon will be an everlasting epitaph for a great man . . . Rest in peace, Neil.

I think he's one of the few men from the 20th century that has achieved true immortality. Hundreds of years from now, when all the advancements of the 20th century have become as inconsequential as the stone tools Cro-Magnon man used to slaughter Wooly Mammoths, anyone with 2 brain cells will still recognize the name and be able to recite "That's one small step for man....one....giant leap for mankind."
