and they are trying to reintroduce animals like wolves, bears and beavers to the UK; the first two are encountering opposition but not beavers, since everyone thinks they are "cute"; guess they ain't so cute after all!

Beavers are harmless and cute till they dam up a stream in the wrong place. Then a hundred people end up with flooded basements thanks to an overfed Guina Pig. I've heard it said that after man no other creature affects it's environment more and I believe it.
I've never had to deal with wolves but bears are pretty laid back creatures. As long as they have room to roam and you don't back them into a corner they get along with people for the most part.
