Quicksand Fans

Two large explosions went off at the finish line at the Boston Marathon. Various news outlets are reporting injuries.

Could be at least two dead, and anywhere from 20 to 60 injured. Reports state at least two more devices found. Definitely bombs.

Other reports suggest the bombs weren't "sophisticated" and plastic explosive likely not used.

Terrible day. Thinking of the families and those injured and dead.

Luckily this particular batch of retards passed bomb making with a C+......Just saw on CNN they found two other devices that apparently failed to detonate.

Very distressing. I grew up just a few miles from there and went to two universities a few hundred yards from the finish line. Sad.

I actively follow running and have a marathon of my own coming up in less than two weeks. I've got friends participating in Boston and the local running club is waiting to hear from them. The crowd appears to have born the brunt of this attack and while I'm not worried for my friends physical well being there are obvious other concerns. What is most aggravating about this is that it will turn out to be some senseless stunt perpetrated by an effing Timothy McVeigh wannabe who thought a real statement was being made by attacking in Boston on Patriot's Day. I will now express the usual vain hope that when he/they are caught it will be a matter of immediate justice so we don't have to listen whatever messed up manifesto they follow.

whoever it turns out to be in the end, I think amateur speculation as to who it might be serves little purpose other than to raise one's blood pressure. It does appear they have someone in custody so its likely we WILL know who did it. As to why, that's like asking \, "Why is a mouse when it spins?"

Most of the media is reporting that one of the two confirmed dead is an 8 year old boy.

It's not just the dead there are so many seriously injured.....holy shit if you go looking on line be prepared.....I sincerely hope the piece of human garbage who did this resists arrest when caught....

No kidding! One witness I heard on the TV said he saw at least 30 people without limbs... these bombs just shredded people... I shudder to think what could have happened if a) the scumbag used more powerful explosives, and b) had the bombs elevated higher... this is juts horrific, ad I hope whoever is responsible is tracked down and dealt with harshly...

I don't think there is gonna be a wall high enough to nail that BASTARD to when all is said and done.
