Can anyone recommend a PC game?

Looking for a new game to play on the PC, and everything looks like a rehash of older games. Any suggestions? Some of my favorites are Diablo II, the Railroad Tycoon series, SimCity, and Starcraft.

Have you played Portal or Portal 2? I made the mistake of ignoring both of these thinking I would not be into puzzle games, bought both of them when Steam had a good deal on them just for shits and giggles, ended up being the most original thing I played since Super Mario Bros.

Have you played any version of Sid Meier's Pirates!? It's a really good game, I actually revisit it from time to time. Yes, there is a modern version for Windows XP, it runs fine under any version of Windows 7 you care to name.
