First NFA/Class III Project--Masterpiece Arms Mini-9

Basically a MAC-11 (Masterpiece is one of a dozen companies that makes or has made clones of the original MACs).
Picked it up used for a song because the previous owner complained of it jamming all the time. Guy didn't realize you have to shoot the hell out of these things before the parts wear together properly, there was still phosphate coating on the wear surfaces so he couldn't have shot more than a hundred rounds out of it.
Going to sell my soul to the BATF for a tax stamp and put a wire stock on her for sure, might do a suppressor too but they get kind of pricey so I'm not sure yet.
Came with a "barrel safety extension"....aka a fake silencer.

Nope, only the original MACs were open bolt. Right around when MAC went bankrupt the ATF banned the open bolt design because it was too easily to convert over to full auto. Everything after that was a closed bolt design.
The MAC-11 was just a smaller 9mm version of the .45ACP MAC-10 (although both size frames are now available in both calibers).
I could actually buy a full auto MAC trigger sear and convert this one but due to there being a limited number of parts (can't be newer than 1986) the cost is ridiculous, something around $4,000. AND another damn tax stamp.

Yeah Hickock mentions that briefly, and I think his was an older model. All perfectly legal if you want to pay through the nose , but thats a real kicker.

I wouldn't turn it down if it was given to me but $20,000 for an M16 lower parts kit? Nah full auto ain't worth that. Stupid 1987 Firearms act makes that stuff so overpriced it's ridiculous. No matter how hard you pull the thing into your shoulder you're only hitting the target with the first two or three rounds before the recoil knocks you off target anyway.
Saving my pennies and waiting for prices to drop......next year plan on picking up something of quality in an AR. I like my DPMS but the A1 sights suck balls and the permanently attached carry handle limits accessories. Managed to drill my choices down to a Barrett REC7 or a Daniel Defense DDM4-V5 with an optic choice of either an AimPoint Comp M4 or one of those Trijicon ACOG's. Leaning towards the DDM4 w/ ACOG setup.

.303/30-06/7.92 for the bolt guns, and M1-A in SOCOM flavour for the semi-auto

I like bolt guns but the left handed issue limits the selection a bit. I have an actual left handed Remington 700 in 30-06. Perfect round for deer. Knocks them down and they stay down so I don't have to chase my food for a mile before it bleeds out lol.

Yeah , I one of those biased righties who never considers that

30-06 be ideal for hunting, although .303 more popular here since its as common as dirt to get your hands on for ammo, and there are many, many No. 4 rifles to be had. Personally I be looking for the No. 5 just to have the shorter version in the bush; you dont need to be trying to get a moose or deer at 600 yds, and anything thats a bit easier to carry in thick bush here, or when visiting say Newfie, is wanted

Pretty much the same down here, most of the places I hunt are brush. I have a cheap scope on my 700 that's zeroed out to 80 yards but I"ve never actually used it other than for target practice. Most of the deer I've taken were 50 yards or less, if you can't hit out that far with iron sights you need to practice.
