Just a heads up, the people at DeviantART have put the site into read only mode for some type of maintence. They've logged everybody out and have put the mature filter on for everybody and you can't put it at visible. Which means, no nudity until the site comes out of maintence and allows you to log back in.

LOL, it's not quite true. I just sit in such position that I have some time to close or hide browser window when somebody enters the room. They have to walk about 6 meters before they can see the screen of my laptop. Just about same time I have when someone of my colleagues gets up from his place to approach the kettle

However, I prefer to not log in to sites without SSL because one of my colleagues use to sniff all traffic just of curiosity. I just hope he is not spreading custom-created malware... Because he can

I also use Crap Cleaner at http://www.piriform.com/go/ccleaner.com to clean my work laptop as best I can when I bring it on trips and wander to sites like this one.

Actually, I and my colleague mentioned above are those who would be responsible for monitoring the traffic, and that's why my colleague does it. But since nobody asks us to do so, I prefer to stay indifferent, while my colleague does it for his own entertainment (he can shout at somebody whose workstation spreads viruses, but usually he prefers to shout on me and I have to convince the violator to follow our advices). In our part of the world large private companies are much more eager to control their employees than government organizations. The only thing that is considered as common practice is blocking access to popular social networks, but since the administrators usually don't want to have conflicts with, say, accounts managers or a boss's secretary, they leave enough holes to sneak through them.

I have one and the only laptop for all my activities - both for work and for leisure, and of course it is stuffed with porn which fact I try to hide from those who are around. I plan to set up separate virtual machines for work and for leisure.

I have to admit that today I haven't managed to login to DeviantART from work, as well as I haven't manage to post this message from work. But I believe the problem had no relation to blocking, filtering, or any other intentional activity.

I'm fortunate in that I'm the IT guy where I work and few others, if any, realize what I do. I have a private DSL connection coming directly to my desk from the outside world for my personal use. Between home, work, my iPhone, I'm online nearly 24 hours a day all by myself. That came in very handy when I was a moderator for this board but since I'm really an information junkie it's great. It also means I spend a lot of time shopping for vintage stereo junk online. I don't know what's going to happen if anyone ever expects me to work. I used to be Dilbert. Now I'm Wally.

My boss and I have come to an agreement. He doesn't bitch when I spend all day on the internet on slow days and I don't bitch when I have to pull three 12 hour shifts in a row over a weekend to get something last minute done. Works out well. Still I wouldn't dare access this site on a work computer lol.....

Even though I'm blessed with four walls and a solid door I prefer to lavish my attention on somebody at home.
