Babe Heffron passed away over the weekend, at the age of 90. Readers of Stephen Ambrose's book, and those who have seen the HBO Series Band of Brothers should be well acquainted with the Babe.

Britain had it's "Finest Hour" and we had our "Greatest Generation". There was one of many great examples of who they were.

The story of how he and another trooper were sent for more medical supplies and got a a little of-course always is a doozy; being winter and snow and all, there aren't exactly defined lines...... so when he broke through into what was a shelter/foxhole and the occupant , startled, asked him if it was Hinkle? Of course, that was in German followed by lots of running and dodging. Didn't help later with the rest of the Company thinking this was the funniest damn thing they'd ever heard
