Uberti keeps getting my attention. When I finish building my AR I want to pick up one of their Colt Walker replicas. Wish somebody out there still made the original ammo, can't find larger rimfire calibers anywhere unless you want to blow $500 on a box of antiques off Ebay that probably wouldn't fire anymore anyway.

The Walker Colt was a cap & ball pistol, not a cartridge gun. And why bother with rimfire when you can get both a pistol and a lever gun in .45 long colt (or .44-40, if you prefer.)

Cap and ball just looks like fun. I've shot a flintlock a few times and liked it. Don't look too far down your nose at black powder guns. The Walker might be a bitch to reload but's still shooting a .44 caliber ball at you at 1200 feet per second. It was the most powerful handgun ever produced at the time and remained so till the .357 Magnum cartridge was introduced in the 1930s.

As for the rimfire ammo I just think it'd be cool to own a period correct piece that shot period correct ammo. That and I've also seen some very nice machines in good operating condition be regulated to the status of wall hanger simply because there's nothing for them to shoot. If they were kept in anything resembling reasonably good condition they'll still shoot.

I think he has displayed the actual ammo a couple times, but would
a) never dare fire it
b) it is literally priceless

He has another new toy we will hopefully see in the future from Springfield....
